Curling for Fri Mar 05, 2010 Curling is a team sport (with 4 members on a team) and is conducted on a pebbled ice playing surface. The object of the sport is to slide large smooth stones (44 lb) with handles across the ice, aiming for them to come to a stop on a target marked on the field. Points are calculated based on the number of stones that land the closest to the centre of the house, before the closest stone of the opponent. There are no judges: the two skips calculate the distance and therefore the points. In the case of a draw, an extra end is played to determine the winner. One end usually takes around 15 minutes to complete and every game generally lasts around two hours and a half. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
