Boxing for Fri Mar 05, 2010 In the amateur division the boxer with the most points as determined by the judges, is declared the winner. In order to achieve a point the boxer must land a forceful punch with the white "knuckle" portion of the glove, in the target zone. The target zone is the front and sides of the head and body. Points are recorded through Computer Scoring. Five judges sit around the ring with a scoring pad with red and blue buttons. When the judges see the competitor in the red corner land a scoring blow they press the red key, and likewise for the competitor in the blue corner. Three of the five judges must ring in within a second of each other for the point to score. At the completion of the bout the competitor with most points wins. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
